DAVIE, Fla. [Feb. 9, 2010] – Tonya Draughon, director of national business and product development for Renaissance Life & Health Insurance Company of America, was honored as the 2009 Insurance Person of the Year by the Broward County Chapter of the National Association of Health Underwriters (BAHU) during its recent meeting.
 
In honor of former BAHU leader Stanley Greenspun, each year the organization recognizes an individual who has gone above and beyond in their profession as well as contribution to the industry overall. Award recipients have displayed extraordinary dedication to the improvement of the health insurance industry by increasing public awareness of the industry and contributing to the professional development of those working within the industry.
 
Draughon is a licensed insurance agent with more than 20 years experience in the health insurance industry. Over the past year, she has contributed articles to several major trade publications offering tips for insurance brokers and human resources personnel. Draughon has been a member of the National Association of Health and Underwriters since 2001 and currently serves as membership chairperson for the Florida chapter.
