Renaissance Life & Health Insurance Company of America Expands Service into Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina

Small and mid-sized businesses to benefit from affordable dental plans

OKEMOS, Mich. (Sept. 19, 2007) — To help close the gap for millions of Americans who work in small and mid-sized businesses and are not covered by dental insurance, Renaissance Life & Health Insurance Company of America (Renaissance), a member of the Renaissance family of companies, is expanding its markets into the states of Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.

The company’s first offering is Renaissance Dental – a plan that provides comprehensive and cost-effective dental coverage for companies with employee rosters as few as five.

“The time has come to address the needs of the small business community,” said Dr. Phil Wenk, president of Renaissance.  “There is a misleading perception in the marketplace that dental insurance is too costly for a small business.  We look to change that perception by offering tailored, yet comprehensive, dental plans with affordable premiums.”

Next to health insurance and 401K plans, dental insurance is one of the most popular benefits among employees.  Each year, employed adults lose millions of hours of work
due to dental disease.  Small businesses feel this absenteeism and lack of productivity the most, further reinforcing the need for dental insurance.

A unique feature of Renaissance Dental is its Renaissance Value CardSM. The card offers vision, pharmacy and hearing discounts through relationships with EyeMed®, Caremark® and Beltone™, respectively, at no additional charge. It also includes access to Passport DentalSM, a referral service to help facilitate access to English-speaking dentists when traveling abroad.

“We are very proud of the Renaissance Value Card,” said Wenk.  “There is a tremendous amount of research connecting good oral health and good overall health.  Our value-added plan design allows Renaissance subscribers to address their health care in a comprehensive manner.  We need to get the message out to small business owners that they need to consider dental insurance on the same level as medical insurance.”

All Renaissance Dental plans cover implants, composite restorations and access to specialists like pediatric dentists. Plans will be available on an employer-paid, contributory or voluntary basis. Multi-year rate guarantees are also available.

Renaissance Dental offers Classic (traditional indemnity) and PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plans with access to an extensive network of credentialed dental professionals, including specialists.
