Renaissance Health Service Corporation Contributes to Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla., (Aug. 10, 2007) – Each year, Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida (Family Health Centers) observes National Health Centers Week during the second week of August. This year, Renaissance Health Service Corporation’s (Renaissance) generous financial contribution to the primary dental care program in Port Charlotte will be recognized.

A $2,000 donation from Renaissance helped purchase a special dental instrument (TCM Endo III) used during root canal procedures. An often time-consuming and painful process, this new instrument has allowed Dr. Edward Moitoso, D.D.S., to perform root canals more quickly and precisely. In addition, because Family Health Centers provides dental care to many uninsured and underserved individuals, this new instrument will allow more patients to receive necessary dental care at greatly reduced costs.

“Many of our Port Charlotte dental patients have no insurance and limited funds,” said Dr. Frank Mazzeo, D.D.S., senior vice president and chief dental officer at Family Health Centers. “Renaissance’s gift bought so much more than a piece of dental equipment because it gave us the opportunity to serve even more patients with less post-procedure pain.”

Members of the media are invited to Family Health Center’s Port Charlotte office, located at 4120 Tamiami Trail, south of the Bob Evans restaurant, on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. to talk to Dr. Moitoso and the staff about the usefulness of the new Endo III unit and the work they do to care for those that cannot afford dental care.

“The effort Family Health Centers has put forth to assist patients to overcome uncomfortable dental situations is remarkable,” said Philip Wenk, D.D.S., executive vice president of Renaissance. “The organization should be commended for their fine work promoting oral health. We are proud to be able to support them.”
